okay alright welcome to off the job overtime it is it feels like it's been a long time yeah it's the last overtime of the year as well yeah it's been a long time it's been a while but we we did make a break we did have a break yeah didn't we yeah I mean I'm Kieran I'm Pete ex plum a gas engineer I know run trade apps and I'm Pete Plumbertows yeah and I'm a plumber obviously that's why I've got a name called plumbertows self explanatory as you can see we're in a different place yeah we're in a different place we are we we've decided to change location we haven't finished yet but um we've got a Abby's got the right amp no I don't yeah you have cause he's in we wait till we come oh we got we got we got the painters in we wait till he comes over to the right oh my God is he and when you finish can you make sure you dump the tray of paint on paper whoa yeah anyway so he's um no you don't mind that do you no oh why why would I say off about that Dibble's not in the shot now is he yeah but what I don't know we don't know about what you can I ask why you call it you who's not actually taking drugs why Dibble because so this is this is my dad painting by the way you probably met him in one of the other things if you seen him but his name is actual name is Devil his birth certificate and he changed it because I think he got bullied in school no my mom remarried yeah Peter Yates yeah and when I started secondary school they put me down in this Yates okay from then on I've always been called Yates but legally I haven't I'm still legally Dibble but my driving license don't tell everyone that unless insurance number is all in Yates strange it's a loophole so that should he not really be a Yates Karen Dibble I don't want to be Karen Dibble thank you Officer Dibble you can just hear people shouting as he runs onto the Rugby field here comes Dibble but anyway we're we haven't finished our new set we're gonna run through bit of a recap of the whole year yeah yeah yeah I can't believe it's been a year already I know a whole year of off the job and we've had we've done just done Season 4 of them we've completed Season 4 um so um yeah I mean in the first season we kicked it off didn't we in January and the first guest we had on was Ollie from Heating Geeks and we couldn't start it off any better ah and he and he got a lot of traction at Ollie cause he's well well known on YouTube for his boiler breakdowns and absolute knowledge of the industry um and we done some live we done a live room I think we should maybe getting back on with some oh you know I might uh you getting paint on me no uh what paint come on Charlotte what painters wear gloves he's not a painter he's a decorator oh oh ha ha ha decorator one minute alright alright we'll wait till he's in the corner and then we're what should we do we just say look how easy that is oh yeah oh yeah alright alright watch out you alright you got your tape there with you yeah yeah um sorry about this relax yeah wait wait wait it's a trade podcast in it and we wanted a tradesman in while we was love filming right let's carry on with a recap anyway yes we had Ollie from Heating Geeks to kick us off with hang on a minute hang on a minute can you have a word you're right mate making all this noise oh that's alright so anyway right so we had Ollie for me Joey said about finding that's proper easy in it but all he's got to do is move his arm up and down look how fucking easy that is though really that is so satisfying isn't it up down up down up down oh that's right on my shoulder that's why I can't use this one anymore uh what did you used to do two rolls at a time then so farmers get bad knees and decorators get bad shoulders yeah they get they get bad feet and bad feet you can't wear oh Ollie hating geeks right yeah so Ollie kicked us off and uh it was a great start to the podcast because Ollie is well known for our YouTube um you know yeah he was a good guest driver very knowledgeable not engagement and I got we got a lot of people like saying how great he was and that how much they've Learned off him and that we done a live yeah that's something definitely next year we do more do more lives yet do sort of more question and answer type things yeah yeah then we had in the first season where we had the ball builders yeah they was great to come on that that was only their second podcast they'd ever done so it was quite honored to have them on when we could some yeah it's good to hear their story yeah very very did it come from that burger video in McDonald's oh lid yeah yeah yeah well a lot of it did yeah they got a lot of engagement didn't they from that yeah that that was a video that blew up for them where they swapped the chicken burger out yeah and then um of course I also like give her Jordi mention from where all is because we do like to approach that serious topics as well like so like regarding mental health and stuff like that so he was a good one to have on to listen to his story come on and actually share his story he fell off a roof didn't he so um and it caused him major problems and and triggered a PTSD with like childhood traumas and that which um he's he's battling he's battling now and he's um if you wanna have a look at look him up he's we're all ears on Instagram so um yeah then into our second season yeah we had your friend Gus and Claudia yeah Gus is a that surprised me that conversation and that was brilliant when it it was really good cause we we actually got them on cause I really wanted to listen to Claudia cause like I know Claudia through the comedy like um uh what do you call it the circuit comedy circuit um but Gus is her husband is also a trained tippy but his story his background was amazing when it actually he was from Brazil used to be a cop in Brazil and he decided that he wanted to now he's working in prison now he's working in prisons in England as putting the doors on and stuff like that in it so that that was a bit different sort of mentality yeah yeah oh yeah yeah oh yeah yeah I thought you was gonna say alright so we also we had rust to talk in tradesman with a friend of ours and he does a podcast himself and that revolves very much around men's mental health etc and tradespeople in general so it was a great guest come on we always like to collab with other like podcast if we can um so um yeah yeah he's got a powerful podcast yeah yeah yeah talking tradesman yeah then we have Schweb the gas expert he's done a lot this year yeah he's a busy busy boy and he's Schweb he's been very busy he's been on his tulfeft um campaign like to try and get things done uh fair play that cause a lot of people do sort of one thing it's very hard to keep it going but he's managed to yeah keep the that sustain the um momentum with it so yeah it takes a lot of energy yeah and he's and he's he's just persistent and he's persistent with it so yeah we'll get on to that in a minute actually after cause we got we wanna recap on something that happened last week as you can see we got two presents to open but we're gonna we've been told to wait feel like halfway through Abby and Robbie because they love us ah they got you fuck all Kev hahaha to be fair we didn't know you were coming in today so um season three Season 3 we had Wilson Milton and if you haven't seen him he's a comedian and friend of mine also carpet fitter so keeping it in with the trades thing it was a music and uh yeah he he had an interesting podcast about his life and how how he was making his way through like the YouTube like um he actually got a YouTube channel yeah he's got a YouTube channel uh check it out um CP Carpentry is it CP Carpentry something like that is it yeah yeah you might change it remember the CP yeah and then um also we also went international as well where we spoke to um my mate Chris he's known as PS the plumber uh Chris Armstrong he's on Instagram um it was nice to get an insight into how plumbing gas works working across the pond when it that was an interesting podcast it was nice to live when it was a good live that wasn't it yeah shows you how regulated it is over there especially in the plumbing game yeah then you're going into the last season of the year Season 4 we kicked it off with Dan Big 4 z yeah big 4 z and another powerful conversation powerful very powerful conversation again about um mental health and and working within the gas industry with that and also to be noted that he's now he's now popping in he's actually popping now on social media so if you haven't seen Big Fozzy check him out it's all about the feel good factor and it's very positive vibes he loves his music so check him out also I think we give Becks a mention as well cause Becks Becker Weston has had been through a lot she's been through some shit in the last year and a half and it is just credit to her to see her absolutely smashing it still and being one of like the most recognized like engineers in the industry I think it's all happened and she's gone back to work yes I have a strong mindset she's like deal with that absolutely smashed it and then yeah then we had trade legends Alex and Mark come on yeah that was that that was good and and we also like cause like we said earlier about Russ we like to collaborate with other like podcast because a lot of people think that that podcast they've got some sort of like I know some what would you call it some rivalry we we ain't got there's no rivalry cause we're all in the same thing we all wanna help and support each other so trade legends we also went up to them and see them didn't we um to to record an episode for them which was good when it I was actually yeah it was different for me being quite but here I'm fine there yeah it was different getting cause I'm not used to sharing what I've done no obviously everyone knows what I've done but to do it in like that environment I've never had to do it so it was a is a good experience also what the last guest we had was Ben living from the atmrc which is he gave you a discount yet no it can be discount code but it was interesting podcast and to be honest he's created quite a um there's a lot of it's a hot topic really about talking about vit thresholds etcetera etcetera that I've noticed lately hopefully people got like there is ways of cause when you're in uh when you get into the industry you don't really know how to organise your task yeah it's quite an educational but you can they have they have um an app where you can you can look how it all works and you can also set up so rather than paying your tax at the end of the year you can set up with them that you can just pay it monthly yeah that straight away will get you out of trouble rather than spending the tax money that you're not aware of I'm actually paying back the money that I spent so I'm not no better already but we also had a number live guests this year because when we did our live shows we had installer Mark and Mark SMH and Dave White DW Plummy fix south we had pointy we never thought we was gonna be doing a live show this year uh uh that was unexpected but it's such a good experience to do um yeah there's gonna be something to say oh after this but yes I was gonna say thanks for like um plenty of promoso for having us thanks for like inviting us to their shows yeah and also thanks to Andy Kemp coming off Fix North as a guest as well so yeah thank you to all the guests that come on this year everyone yeah everyone who's come on is is obviously supported us and and been great and the engagement levels with you and it I think every single podcast it wasn't any awkward moments I don't remember any or does anyone remember any awkward silent moments does anyone remember that I don't really do you no it's all Robbie's gone silent and awkward right that's irony for you no it's all good conversations but yeah the live shows were good so hopefully we do more of them next year yeah what's your favorite guess and moments we've just been through the guess mate are you something so what's your favorite I ain't gonna I ain't gonna name my favorite I'm not gonna name everyone's our favorite everyone's special what about your favorite not guest but moment so our favorite moment you've had we've had a lot like paintball oh yeah I mean the flying lesson was the flying lesson was good didn't it that was good yeah favorite moment um I can't really yeah I mean all them things where we've done things actively as the podcast and we've gone out as a group and we've done like fix I think they're all my highlight moments of the year within the podcast and trade apps I think that's for me it's just being with you one day a week I know you are you are there you are there dipsies you are there devil he's right there he's just ashamed of his son going to the going to the live event as a group so I bought it in there for you didn't use still on the row yeah I think got to live shows as a group yeah like you say is the highlights good team bonding isn't it team bonding so um but um yeah as I was saying have you got any Christmas plans you you seen seen your dad over Christmas night or is this it yeah haha yeah yeah we see each other on Christmas we painted the fucking wall we we had our Christmas drinks last week oh yeah there's a few stories we wanna share about that do we I don't I've not got any I was a bit boring that night I turned up and then I went home didn't I really I turned up late and then I went home early yeah but when you multiply a chicken shop yeah fucking remind me of that one I went to there what they'd already eaten so like you know I had to get me own food no offense why I went to this place was at Rochester Market won't we what's your Christmas market went there after for a few drinks and have a look around there as unfair wouldn't it we went on the big wheel together he touched he touched my leg Devil he touched my leg did you that's when did it's good in it it's alright there ain't it massive I'll tell you what though for us it weren't on the Friday it was alright talking at the chicken burger though I went to this burger van right that chicken fillet burger and chips and a Coke they said do you want cheesy chips I said yes please how much not 40 not 48£40 what the fucking hell are you buying chicken from I was exaggerating yeah it's expensive it's an £18 80 I was like what and you know what don't you check the price the thing no I didn't I didn't think it would take the piss like that they didn't even fucking move look he was grated cheese on the table and even melted the bun was for quid selling kebabs in the high street which sent him to guys to be selling kebabs in the tenerie mental man ain't it but no it was good we yeah we went to Rochester we had some food people had quite a lot of drink I was surprised at some people like everyone mixed a lot of drinks I was except for me I don't drink not me I don't drink either I had about three and then I was like cause I drove I'm not I'm not gonna drink anymore so I bought a 0% Guinness without most people knowing you know what the the the weekend of the workday it was a news report that there was a Guinness shortage and immediately my first thought was like how much did the guys drink ha ha ha yeah so it was a good day we went had food went to Rochester Market and we most of us went home at around 11 I think we let Robbie shared his story alright where did you go Robbie so let me just explain before that so Wendy took a few people home I went home on my own and Robbie and Jack was left alone to get an Uber tell the rest Robbie and Jack had to get an Uber home yeah my phone was dead coincidentally yeah so Jack was my ride home and during during the week we made a joke about a certain natures club town nearby Ella Eurekas oh they knew there was an event going on that night what was the event cougars and cubs cougars and cubs yeah alright so uh so you reminded Jack of this event this event yeah so I was oh that's pretty still going on as a laugh oh it was convenient and um got pushed in there Jack immediately redirect to the Uber to the place yeah and is in the middle of nowhere I'm talking full beam headlights for a good 20 minutes before we even arrived and then got there walked in country road go like gate with a golden plaque and everything and then uh the girls are oh you know we need to see IDS get the IDS and Jack's like I'll pay for your entry I'll pay for your entry you know come with me and I was like I think I'm with you I'm stuck with you as a different oh oh hold on let's stop there because you reminded Jack yeah you reminded it was in his head to go I did it as a joke I reminded him about a certain event on at this place Jack was in the in the Uber Jack was so what did I do in this place exactly what did I do tell him the story actually got out to the door so uh we walked up the door and this was all you know welcome in the guy was like alright I need Cids the Jack was like I'll pay for your entry because you know you came with me and I was like no I didn't come with you I'm I'm stuck with you on my ride home yeah he's got to re emphasize that bit yeah cause it's the truth yeah okay okay and then the guy goes back IDS and said alright it's 55 pound per person to enter right and I was like enter what the building oh right okay and you can actually see through the door good yeah and what was going on in there um well it was it was we didn't actually say anything that bad right right right what do you think happens in there but we could hear some bad things yeah you what what bad things what what like some some adult things screaming what what what bad things were they just uh you heard sexual activity yes you heard sexual activity cougars at play right really okay fun yeah and then um so what was you you couldn't hear could you so were you yeah see so you was going in there to just a voyeur pretty much what age group of the people in there you could see they want the Cougars you want did I look like Dibble with a wig the Cougars with a capital C can you give us a capital C so did you go in no we didn't go in I turned around to Jack I said look I'm all for a laugh but £55 per person though and let's not forget you are an engaged each time I'm engaged man and that's the story Robbie put out and that's what he's sticking to yeah I don't mean Jack had to wander home for like 20 minutes in the dark and I was like I would love to have seen his face so when Jack said I'm redirecting the Uber his face probably went yes yes no you no you not me that's what we say I love it your face I do like it I do like it though that he was the one who suggested it and then he says he turns out oh I couldn't go anywhere cause I was with Jack yeah I mean I don't know what I mean I can't help it phone's dead oh the phone's dead oh no so Jack said like if you you had paid that money and they said on the door that he they had to strip like obviously cause it is a nature's club oh right would you have got in he was like absolutely not who what Jack I would have he would have done it then he wouldn't have done it no I wouldn't have gone there though I don't think you have to be you can wear your clothes yeah you can yeah but I just I wanted to sort of it's a nitrous it's not listen listen it's not a nitrous place is it sounds just a swingers place sounds like a swingers place yeah swingers place um I was gonna say ruined it right my mind's gone yeah so I was gonna say I was gutted I wish they went in I wanted to hear more that was your opportunity Robbie you was getting dragged by Jack 55 pound per person yeah but Jack said he will pay doesn't it doesn't it sound authentic the way he says it doesn't he sound authentic the way he said it fifty five pound per person you know they went like this haha yeah they might have actually gone in and not we we just stick to that story that it was too expensive and everybody we don't know we don't know do we we don't know Jack and Robbie did both have Monday booked off alright did they did they come in Monday they didn't let's just check their Uber history see what time they went home oh no apparently a girl picked them up what oh yeah we had to put up because I know we're getting home so we stumbled for the dark like 20 minutes and I was like Jack he stumbled through the dark he makes it sound like some sort of thriller feel there's no street lights yeah it was kept cancelling yeah it was cause it was in the middle of nowhere no we could die this could be it yeah and then to dramatize it a bit yeah of course and then he was like oh not Ubers aren't picking up anyway I know what to do so he called up an old flame an old flame and uh basically begged her to come get us right she came and got us with a puncture and everything did she puncture she had a puncture in her car and Jack was like puncture her car for a minute I thought you meant the condom Jack used it like Jack was like please oh please and she still turn up did did did Jack go back home with her don't know they dropped me off first they dropped you off first coincidentally coincidentally did you find out did you he says he went back to his parents oh and took a ghost home like he Doritos yeah that was eventful for you guys yeah well Christmas plans Christmas plans are you really going oh mate to be honest with you at the moment I do like Christmas I do like it but it's a pain in the ass it's a lot of pressure on people and especially this but fuck off it goes so quick though Christmas doesn't it like that's why you have to make the most of it leading up to it before you know it it's gonna be it's done by the time you go right how much time you put an into it right
come like 12 1:00 then it starts getting dark and it's done done yeah but it's still good to have the if you didn't have these Baileys and ice and you asleep on you if you didn't have these things there'd be nothing to look forward to so even though it's been and gone yeah you need these good season of events yeah what is your New Year's resolution giving up vaping what that meant to happen this year right so from January the first let's keep each other accountable January the first you're gonna stop vaping yeah I'mma start smoking you got you signed up to the gym I've given up vaping I've signed up to the gym you're gonna be one of those you go to the gym in January and it's packed for about two months and then they're all gone again you ain't gonna be one of those are you no I don't think you know me when I get to the gym mate there's quite a few years ago you just there's gonna be a summer bod on the way we can use that video they put up as a comparison we do the same video before and after so he show me naked we get full strip photo of you today not naked but like just me top off we could use that one you set me up on actually that one yeah that's what it says we could use that when's the baby due yeah I could do that photo of when he done the Tool Station video yeah you can do that one use them and then his white T-shirt come June there'll be a end now yeah and you'll be like freaking hell Pete you've put the work in I've got a question for you out of me won't you yeah yeah I will I got a question for you you know protein winner I've got a question for you and someone else that hopefully sees this serene as Pete messaged you look at his face by the time she sees this hopefully so no not at the moment no I've been so busy New Year resolution then I'm gonna phone her this was around the corner I'm gonna phone her you could get it booked in for the New Year I will get it booked in for the New Year I will I feel very so bad cause I said I would yeah she's waiting for your call she's been chasing you in the comments yeah I've not read him no on a serious note definitely help no even just that first conversation I will so you went to the tourmarking event yeah sorry I couldn't be there things come up that's alright how was it very good Abby and Robbie come down uh we got some content together guys didn't we we got a few interviews out of it that's good um yeah there's a lot of people getting their tools marked yeah they I think they'd have about hundred and fifty 2 hundred and eighty didn't they I think yeah so uh I think there was 140 kits given out which was the equivalent of like 7,000 tools right yeah really so that's um that's good uh it what it what the thing that I think the thing I was mainly concentrating in is this not just about the the police old Bill whatever you wanna refer to him as right they're giving out these kits for free right it's not it's not just about that it's about the whole exposure and awareness of what's going on cause the more people we can make aware of it like the general public cause it's gonna be hard to control it but doing the tool Mark if everyone done the tool marking that should solve the issue it won't solve it it will never solve it will help it will help it will be preventative measure and if it does happen then there's a chance that people could get their tools back I should put trackers on them or some do you know what some there are some things out there at the moment where some tools are I don't know they'll probably find a way around it I feel spoke about it before that only work with one battery do you know what I mean so I don't know if you're gonna put a tracker on all tools so I mean our costly would that be but no it's good why would never look like a good thing yeah we've got some content on that to show so why don't we go and show you what happened there all right yeah yeah go right today we are at Bow Tool Station and it is for the toolmarking event it's free toolmarking event so if people were down here they could come they could get their tools mart for free and prevent this major travesty what is going on within the industry um tall theft from vans is rife and exposure like this can only be a positive uh for the industry and everywhere else making the general public aware so let's have a look see what we got going on here who's here and uh we're gonna do some interviews ey so off the job is here down at bow at toll station we have got the toll marking going on so um and I found Geo obviously he's not hard to find look at keeping camo keeping camo what you thinking mate what you saying well I'll tell you what I got here was pitch black but full of people who's mega I think it's been an amazing response everyone's getting the idea now the Momentum's building isn't it either that the whole tool fair thing is really picking up yeah wow I'm here with the main organizer this is the man that made this happen here he is I've been trying to get out all morning he's been busy he's been running around how we feeling Shrek how you feeling about healthy amazing turnout uh as said I thought people will turn out slowly
but since 6:00 it's been mad and the A12 pretty much outside till the main road is blocked police is tryna sort of manage the traffic in and out this car park um yeah amazing amazing turnout right I'm here with Dave Catlow he is the police officer who is been you you are an organizer of this year yeah alongside swab obviously for this one but yeah we we started doing these events about a year or so ago um the sick up team over Bexie um just doing them locally and then we reached out to swab um about six months ago we just wanted to go a little bit bigger with it yeah um get more awareness and obviously it's turned out to this today you know it's all going well in it and then it said like some more events gonna be about do we know of anything yeah so we're always doing local events where we we on the on the south side on Bexley um we've got other officers coming down from the met today we got Hertfordshire Kent coming over I know Kent are rolling out some events already yeah but the idea of them coming down today is basically just to sort of network and then take it back to their forces and try and roll out a few more yeah obviously for us it's a matter of kits getting the kits once we get hold of the kits I normally have to go out for funding to get hold of funding to supply the kits and then we can then do the event so so this is Kerry from Fix Radio Kerry that's um Lauren from fix right now I get muddled up you all look the same don't you no blondes is that right there's a few blondes in it how we doing good yeah what you thinking of today yeah amazing turn out so far great exposure in it it is great exposure and it's just a good cause we this is somewhere where we wanna be we wanna be making sure that the trader looks after we wanna sadly fix and fought down some lovely snacks and stuff we got in here we got in here well that it's just a flyer in there at the moment but we have sausage rolls and we have donuts and we have muffins excellent that is what we want from Fix Radio I like to interview Fix Radio because Fix Radio always goes around interviewing everyone else apple no that is true how about we interview fix but it's like it's a great turn out in it what am I looking at you or the camera haha just keep your eyes fixed on me and dad right so here we got we got m dad a friend of the of the job yeah from Easy builds what you thinking about today what you thinking um I think it's a fantastic uh event today um one is making awareness um of how to predict our tools 2 is a preventative measure uh that obviously especially big shout out to shuade from Gas Expert for taking that initiative to make this happen yeah um and I think this is something where if something's not done now it's just gonna go unnoticed and obviously like myself I've been done twice now yeah um the last time was about a few weeks ago uh well about a month or so ago and um yeah it almost wiped me out cause they took about three and a half thousand pounds before my tools I wasn't able to work alright it's Danny Madden here really how you doing Danny yeah yeah got the umber plumbers at the moment anyway I'll be I'll be I'll be upset a few you've upset a few but you would still like to see their tools safe wouldn't you I would so they can continue undercutting work so they could continue feeding boilers with my client my client on his mother I got a monopoly on this this is all mine no no no no you you you have to give me yeah you give me a drink a little drink mate you know what I mean have you paid your tax yet this is Louis from Louis Carpentry is it Louis Carpentry l l carpentry enjoying the week come on Peter get with the time how you doing all right mate all good all we got here man got a free tool bag come on I want it from the yeah and that's because you've marked your tools definitely yeah so that is a reason to get down here in it if any reason to get down here you're gonna get yourself a little freebie maybe if you Mark your tools out this bad boy here here we've got Muhammad from London Gas and commercial limited yeah that right yeah so um easier day down at boatsall station I arrived on a job it was a born little boy by the breakdown so I had a I thought you know let me just go and have a look before I take out my tools literally parked outside the the customer's house I saw a van with three men with hives I thought nah they they're gonna be like builders general builders nothing's gonna happen I was in literally around three to five minutes and uh came back out my tool bag analyzer all the stuff cleaned out the whole van was cleaned out within 3 4 minutes hello hello mate this is Ryan he's my mate he's an electrician electricians hate me normally but Ryan loves me do you know what I actually do love you I love you too yeah you know what I mean it's hard to believe I actually do quite like you I'm fond of you thanks yeah fond is a lovely word I know I had fond for a long time I'm quite partial to be a fond yeah yeah showing a bit of your yes awesome nice yeah I like it I got this is my haircut today okay yeah what are you thinking today mate Joe what bow tow station what you reckoning it's not a bad turn out is it good turn out he's done alright I was trembling yeah he's done a good old job um I've only just got here but um I'm yet to really have a little mooch but um have you got your job marked no and I'm gonna do it today you're gonna do it I'm gonna do it today um there's the man himself walking past uh yeah that is something I will do today definitely cause yeah you must be really proud of what you're doing shed because like it's gonna make a major difference to people's lives the more exposure the more awareness we can get to the general public tradesman anyone about this to try and prevent it and stop it stop the problem of the anxiety going through people and people's mental health suffering from this stuff in it so like babe it's begun on for too long and now the momentum's there every everyone's on board we've got 29 companies on board with us this time yeah and more and more's happening we got MPs involved as well now they start to follow my page and they they wanna do something about it that's the thing we want the government to to get involved with this as well and try and make a difference to what's happening in our world you know what I mean so like if we can get them on board and like them actually make things happen then it's a win win for us in exactly preventive measure but also the exposure and awareness of what's actually going on to the general public cause the general public they don't actually really it's not their fault it doesn't really affect them but in the long run it probably could because if nothing's done trades when they gonna come into London they're not gonna they're not gonna wanna work it's gonna push prices up for like that the end user because of risk factors security etcetera on bans and that so if everybody's on board of it yeah we can help maybe again prevent it another way just through the exposure and awareness of what's going on today definitely I mean look if you come to this event today you're gonna get your tools marked for free these kits usually cost 50 60 quid um the other incentive is you come everything's done for free you get some free gifts everybody walks away with something so it's a win win situation and and especially if you're a tradesman especially in in London where tool theft is rife yeah you know every other day you just like you always here first of all it wasn't anybody that you know but now it's people you know now it's your own self you know so if if if we don't take those measures and we don't protect ourselves yet then yeah I think we got also met we got to mention the Met Police as well better acts off to the Met Police and all that so um credit credit but credits due people aren't getting the whole tool marking bit they don't really understand the the importance of it because I don't know if anyone saw Shreb the gas experts coverage of that depot that the police have got full of like millions of tools yeah maybe not quite millions hundreds of thousands of tools and they belong to people but unless you can go in and somehow prove it that it's yours they can't actually give it to you so even if the police recovered your tools tomorrow and you went and said yeah they're mine and I got receipt for a Makita drill whatever I don't I'll be honest I don't admit them being my tools as well ha ha yeah no it's brilliant it's a great turnout it's good to see that everyone has actually turned up Paul's absolute carnage yeah in the car park but this is what it's about as he said before pointless right and I said to my my pal the other day on site he's got all his tools marked up with his initials yeah don't mean nothing does it no a car boot sale in a shop no so this is what's important get them uh tagged up yeah definitely I've got a load of tools in the van got Mark got names on them Steve Adam Jamie we can have a look he's not I don't know who they are gently marking myself I'm joking I've no stolen tools on my van but my tools are so old I think I bet it's not it's not only the tools I don't have anyone on Nickham because it's a damage yeah yeah of course it is yes yeah thousands pounds worth of damage you know oh we've got loan from Fix Radio here have we did you get her on I was Kerry in it yeah you done that me Beacon proper didn't you her name's Kerry you said it was Lauren she's just she's just chasing you so we've got um we've got Kerry here yeah but yeah I know this is a brilliant event in it we're all here for the same reason to stop tall theft because we hate them scouts constantly I don't wanna swear but we hate them yeah it's gone too far too many people are getting affected yeah and it's time to stop and not only that it's affecting people's mental health as well even people who haven't been affected by it but go out every morning and think to themselves has my van been robbed because that's what it's coming to anxiety every day anxiety every day park your van on a job is it gonna get robbed is it not I wanna keep me eyes on the van I'm gonna get tickets cause I'm keeping me on the van it's got to stop and we've got a we've got to do something bad so event like this is absolutely amazing in it another good thing is that trades the police themselves everyone and all these companies now involved they're all working together and that's what I wanted there's nothing in it for me the only thing I the only satisfaction I get is when we put a stop to this and I want the government to put something out there to say these tall thieves are gonna be dealt with so good the people that have organised it the gas expert yeah it's just got everyone involved acts off to him aye absolutely brilliant what he's done look around there's so many people here for the same reasons trying to help the tradespeople just do their job because that's at the end of the day their van is their life and you know if you haven't got your life and your tools what you can't do a job it runs on and like you say it affects not just that person but everyone around them you know it's just got to stop we got the Met Police here hopefully they're gonna do something about it yeah they're gonna hopefully do something about well that's saying earlier a lot of the the nearly called him the old building but I get a bit stick didn't I for not doing anything so like but they do so that's the thing they are trying to prevent it so if there's any companies out there who wanna oh yes exactly yeah if people wanna wanna buy some kits and do an event will happily come down and who would they get in touch with if they wanted to reach out to you either myself or select to DNA go straight to select to DNA um and then obviously we can then attend the events from the police side of things and we can show people how to Mark their tools and you know do the comprehension advice we also got stuff um all around locks pedal locks OBD locks steering wheel locks wheel locks from different companies um just to show the trades around van security and obviously got TVL here as well doing all the van security sites so it's um it's a mixture of everything what you thinking of today mate today is good man I travel like from um yeah you come a quite like 2 hour drive it took me yeah but it was worth it just to get your tools marked cause I don't think there's a lot like this in my area no but I think what they're doing around starting here is good and then it can be pushed out further oh definitely that it's got a start in the set of where it's right yeah then yeah then it will spread out and then oh yeah definitely but have a ripple effect yeah right we're here with Nick Roach he is the chief liaison officer with selector that was it selected DNA yes Select Selector Mark is the parent company Select DNA is one of our products yeah so you've liais with police to get to this event today yes so yes so I am a retired police officer uh so that's how what I do with the business really I liais and train the police on how this product works and how they can use it to their advice it is a special bit of kit I've seen it yeah do you want to explain to people how it works so do you want me to show you we using one of the kits is that gonna be easier for you yeah so if I can hand this over to you yeah and basically what we've got here we've got a we've got a treat drill just for demo purposes but if I put my UV light on it things change so and over here so in the hammer there you can see it turning blue but you can't see this stuff unless it's under a UV light so when marking tools we talk about marking in the harder reach areas in in in the vents all those sort of places each kit has about 50 of these stickers they are tamper resistant what that means is if I wanted to pick that off could I I could but it will take a while um so when I'm talking to the police I've talked about these having two very different messages to do very different groups of people so to the thieves it's kind of don't touch me I'm a problem leave me alone and to the police it's have a look at me with a UV light you will find my owner and sometimes you might have a sticker that's been completely removed but because it's been on for so long there's a colour change right so one of the things I've talked to them about is if there's a brighter part on one of these bits of Kia have a look cause you got everything to gain and nothing nothing to lose so that's it in in real life so let's look at it on the worst thing in the world because we can we can see it here but if there is there it comes out blue but can you see those tiny tiny little dots yeah with those dots they sit in the the the the the the the the the marking compound so this one will will have that code on every markerdot there the markerdots underneath they settle obviously through it through gravity um in there there's 8 milliliters of of it's a glue based product 8 milliliters of selected DNA and there are 60 trillion copies of every of the DNA code every milliliter wow so if we can't find a microdor all is not lost because all of that blue has DNA in it right takes a that's a laboratory process as opposed to an instant process but we can still identify it so I chose that is a two factor two two factor identification yeah yeah exactly so is it is it meant to change to you that uh if if if you just got the uh the DNA well if we look down in there I don't know where you wanna have a look oh yeah yeah can you see the number I can see the number yeah so that goes over about six lines it goes left to right right to left cause when you're putting it on you don't know whether you're putting it on a heads or a tail so it doesn't have a heads or a tail so it's it's you can always identify it yeah the key also comes with ban stickers window stickers obviously stickers for the item to put thieves on yeah and your chances of once it's on you're looking at about an 83% less likely to be stolen which is pretty decent yeah and of course if it all goes wrong it does get taken and you've got a decent chance of it coming back to you yeah because it's marks yeah I know of jobs where the police have phones numbers you know um postcodes that are carved in they've gone to those postcodes they can't find anybody in the trades nah because they've moved yeah uh they've they've have items that have had uh an initials carved in great on site but it's managing to to a link up a crime with those in his very very 80s that and we used to get our we used to get our bikes postcoded in the old days when I was a kid well we also run the National Cycle Database so we have another solution specifically for Pebblesong yeah cause that's high yeah right as well so yeah I mean I think it's it's it's a great it's a great thing that's happening here and and hopefully that we can get them numbers down absolutely throughout the country because it's huge you know you don't mean need me to tell you it is hugely impactive upon you know tradesmen you know small businesses because they need this kit to earn their money that when it's gone uh right okay well I'm staffed I've got to go and buy all this kit yeah and it take this it has a ripple effect yeah absolutely and and some of these some people have had kit for years or have made something themselves to solve a certain problem on a particular job and get facial up problem oh yeah I got one as my van uh it's not there yeah cause it went when yeah yeah yeah it's quite common I hear people say when asked what's gone I don't know yeah exactly yeah I don't know what's going find out a couple of weeks through months later yeah exactly exactly right well thanks very much for your time Nick thank you and uh carry on the good work thank you right so we've had a lovely time in bow at Tool Station for the tool marking event we hope to see more of these events in and around London and across the country I'm sure we will because events like this are gonna create more exposure more awareness the general public tradesman people wanna get their tools marked for free it's only a good thing and uh we've had a good day and we gang
